Guide
Canton Fair to Zhejiang: Product Regions and Factory Visits
Zhejiang is a set of specialised clusters, each strong in a narrow product group: appliances in Cixi, molds in Huangyan, buttons and zippers in Qiaotou, trekking poles in Ninghai, gifts in Yiwu, drinkware and tools in Yongkang. Finish the fair knowing your product, match it to one cluster, then book two or three confirmed visits there. Do not try to cover the province in one trip.

Who this is for
Private label, OEM and ODM, after the fair.
This is written for small and medium importers, Amazon and Shopify sellers and niche brands developing private-label, OEM or ODM products after Canton Fair. The goals are usually the same: lower minimum order quantities, fast sampling, custom design or packaging, and suppliers who can produce compliance documents.
It is not a tourism itinerary and it does not chase large enterprises. The aim is to find small and mid-sized workshops where you can see the molds, the injection machines, the assembly line and the quality checks.
Why clusters
Why Zhejiang suits small buyers.
Many towns here grew around one product, with mold makers, material suppliers, component makers and assembly shops within a short distance of each other.
What that means in practice
- You can often see several steps of production in one area — mold, injection, assembly and packing within a short drive.
- Suppliers inside a cluster are used to custom changes in colour, logo and packaging, though how flexible any one factory is varies.
- You can compare several workshops making the same product in one or two days, which is what makes a shortlist honest.
Two cluster facts are widely reported: Qiaotou in Yongjia is called the button capital of the world and is reported to make around 60 percent of the world's buttons and 80 percent of its zippers; Ninghai in Ningbo is reported to produce about 60 percent of the world's trekking poles, exporting over 15 million a year, according to Chinese state media. Huangyan in Taizhou is widely known as a major mold center. We have not verified any of those figures, and more importantly they describe the scale of a cluster, not whether a particular factory is any good — that still has to be checked one factory at a time.
The map
Which cluster fits your product?
From our own cluster notes. Treat every row as a starting point for research, not a guarantee — confirm a factory's actual products, MOQ and certificates in writing.

Region by region
What to look for where.
- Ningbo — appliances and outdoor gearCixi for small home appliances with the motor and plastic supply chain nearby: ask which parts the factory makes itself and which it buys in, and which markets its safety documents cover. Yuyao combines mold capability with appliances and melamine tableware — for food-contact products ask for test reports for the exact material and product, not a general food-grade statement. Ninghai is where to see trekking pole production: ask about material options, small-batch runs and logo marking.
- Taizhou — molds and plasticsHuangyan is the stop for anyone developing a new plastic product. Bring a sketch or a sample and ask for a mold cost and a lead time. Linhai has small eyewear workshops that will customise frame colour, engraving and packaging. Wenling is better known for pumps, pressure washers and garden tools.
- Wenzhou — accessories, parts and footwearQiaotou is the first stop for apparel and bag brands needing buttons, zippers and webbing; samples are often quick to make, but confirm the minimum order for your specific item. Rui’an and Yueqing serve auto parts, bathroom hardware and electrical products — for electrical, ask for the certificates that apply to your target market and check the certificate covers the exact model. Ouhai and Pingyang cover small-batch footwear and pet fabric goods.
- Yiwu and Yongkang — gifts, drinkware and toolsYiwu is strong for fast-changing daily goods and seasonal items: the market is for seeing samples and comparing prices, the factories nearby are where production happens, and many stalls are traders — so ask who actually makes the product. Yongkang has a deep supply chain for stainless drinkware, cookware and hand tools; ask about laser logo options and custom packaging, and check material specifications for food-contact items.
- Huzhou — an optional stopAnji for chairs and Zhili for children’s clothing. Only add them if they fit your product, because they add travel time. For children’s products, check the safety rules and documents that apply in your market before ordering.
Two of the Wenzhou clusters above are sewing trades, which raises one adjacent purchase. If you are equipping a floor of your own rather than only sourcing from one, the machines are a separate decision from the trims and the uppers — and it is covered on a separate site we run: garment factory sewing machines, shoe factory equipment and bag and luggage machines.
One structural option worth knowing in Taizhou: mold making is a separate industry there, so some buyers commission the mold from an independent mold shop and then place the moulding with a factory they choose. That can make tool ownership clearer. Whether it suits your project depends on volume and risk — and either way, agree in writing who owns the tool.

Three routes that group well.
Examples, not itineraries we can promise. Real routes depend on confirmed appointments and on actual travel times — check those with a map or a rail app before you book.
- Route 1 · Ningbo and TaizhouHome products and plastics. Start with small appliance or outdoor factories in Cixi, Yuyao or Ninghai, then continue to Huangyan for a mold workshop. Best for brands developing a new plastic or appliance product.
- Route 2 · WenzhouAccessories, parts and electrical items. Group Qiaotou, Rui’an and Yueqing by your categories. Best for apparel or bag brands, auto parts buyers and electrical importers who need several suppliers in one area.
- Route 3 · Yiwu and YongkangGifts and metalware. See the Yiwu market for samples and ideas, then visit confirmed factories nearby, adding Yongkang if you buy drinkware or tools. Best for gift retailers, cross-border sellers and hardware wholesalers.
Whichever route you take, do not plan more than two or three factories a day. Rushed visits return less information than fewer visits done properly.

Before you travel
Seven things to confirm in writing.
Confirm these first
- 01.The exact factory address, date, start time and host, in writing.
- 02.That the factory actually makes the product you want — not only a similar one.
- 03.MOQ for your specification, with prices at two or three quantities.
- 04.Sample lead time and cost.
- 05.Certificates for your target market, and which model and material they cover.
- 06.Whether you can see the workshop areas you need: molds, injection, assembly, quality control.
- 07.Who owns the mold or tooling, if you are paying for it.
The company checks that sit behind number two are the seven steps in how to verify Canton Fair suppliers, and the on-site checklist that covers number six is in from Canton Fair to factory visits. If number three is the one that stops the order, the eight levers that move a minimum are in Canton Fair MOQ for small buyers.
Questions
Frequently asked questions.
Which Zhejiang city is best for plastic molds?
Huangyan in Taizhou is widely known as a major mold center, and it is a good first stop if you are developing a new plastic product. Compare several mold shops and agree tool ownership in writing before anything is cut.
Where do I source buttons and zippers in Zhejiang?
Qiaotou in Yongjia, Wenzhou, is known for buttons and zippers. Public sources report it produces around 60 percent of the world’s buttons and 80 percent of its zippers — a figure we have not verified, and one that says nothing about whether a specific supplier is right for you.
Is the Yiwu market or a Yiwu factory better for small orders?
The market is better for seeing samples, comparing prices and assembling small mixed orders, but many stalls are traders. For anything you will order in volume, ask who actually makes the product and go and see that factory.
Can I visit Zhejiang factories right after Canton Fair?
Yes, but route it by cluster, confirm each visit in writing and keep to two or three factories a day. Guangzhou to Zhejiang is real travel time — check it before you book, and do not assume you can fit the province into a three-day gap between phases.
Do Zhejiang factories offer low MOQ?
Some do, especially for small items, accessories and flexible small-batch products, but it depends on the factory and the product. Ask for prices at several quantities rather than a single number.
Do I need certificates before I order?
It depends on your product and your market. Ask for certificates that cover the exact model and material, and check them before you pay. A certificate for a similar model is not a certificate for yours.
Can you help organise the trip?
Yes. Zhejiang is our home base. Send us your product, your target market, your quantities and your dates, and we will tell you which cluster fits and what is realistic in the days you have.
The province as a whole — how the clusters sit relative to each other and what a typical three-to-five-day trip looks like — is on the Zhejiang destination page. Yiwu, Ningbo and Shaoxing each have their own page too.
What we don't do
What this guide is and is not
Cluster descriptions are summaries, and individual factories vary. The market-share figures quoted above are reported by public sources, not verified by us, and they describe a town's scale rather than any supplier's quality. Verify every supplier and every certificate yourself or with a professional.
- Confirm a factory’s actual products, MOQ and certificates in writing before you travel — a cluster’s reputation is not a supplier’s capability.
- Agree mold and tooling ownership in writing. It is the clause that decides what happens if you move production later.
