Pick the right China cluster before you pick the factory.

Each region below has a different industrial backbone. Going to the wrong city costs you two travel days and shows you factories that were never going to make your product.

Seven regions, each with a different industrial backbone

Every page below is written from the ground: what the cluster actually makes, what access is realistic and how far the factories sit from the market.

How we match a category to a city

The match is driven by what you are buying or filming, not by what is closest to the airport.

  • What the cluster is strong inA category with hundreds of nearby suppliers gets you real choice; one with five factories in the wrong province gets you a sales trip, not a shortlist.
  • What access is realisticMarket-floor cities like Yiwu are easy to film; heavy-industry parks are stricter and slower to approve. We tell you which before you commit.
  • How the days composeTwo clusters can sit a few hours apart by train — we plan routes that combine them instead of burning a day on backtracking.

Three kinds of destination

A market city, a manufacturing city and a fair city are different trips.

  • The market cityYiwu. The market is the product — you go to see the range and the price floor, then trace the stalls back to the factories behind them.
  • The manufacturing cityNingbo, Dongguan, Foshan. The plant is the product — you go to walk the floor, see the tooling and meet the production manager.
  • The trade-fair cityGuangzhou. The fair is the anchor — you build a shortlist at the fair, then verify the promising names on the floor nearby.

One region or several

How many regions a trip can actually hold.

The temptation is to cover the whole map. The reality is that every transfer costs a day.

  • One region, done properlyTwo or three days in one cluster beats two clusters skimmed. You see the comparison that matters — the second factory against the first — without a transfer day in between.
  • Two regionsWorth it when the product genuinely spans clusters, or when a market day and a plant visit are the same week. Each transfer still costs most of a day.
  • Three or moreOnly on a long trip. Every extra region adds a travel day and a re-orientation, and the marginal factory visit gets shallower each time.

If you are not sure which cluster fits, run the manufacturing hub finder, or let factory matching turn your category into a shortlist.
