Chinese calendar dates for 2026 and 2027

These are the celebration dates, not the full holiday breaks. The lunar-date references follow the Hong Kong Observatory’s annual conversion tables; official mainland leave periods are listed separately below.

Lantern Festival, Qixi and Double Ninth are cultural observances; their presence in this table does not mean a nationwide day off. Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan have their own holiday arrangements, so use the relevant jurisdiction’s schedule if your itinerary crosses borders.

China public holiday calendar 2027

The 2027 mainland holiday schedule was announced on 5 November 2026. The periods below are the announced breaks, including adjacent days incorporated into each break. They are not a statement that every employee receives that number of statutory paid holiday days.

Why is a weekend sometimes a working day in China?

Holiday arrangements may move work onto selected Saturdays or Sundays to create a longer continuous break. A normal weekday may therefore fall inside a holiday, and a weekend may be an official adjusted workday. Confirm the exact date rather than assuming Monday–Friday availability.

An adjusted workday does not guarantee that your supplier’s engineering team, production line, interpreter or driver is available. Conversely, some factories operate during part of a holiday. A written appointment is still necessary.

Golden Week and travel planning

For an October trip, check the National Day break before fixing your route. Keep business appointments separate from sightseeing plans: a destination may welcome visitors while an industrial site’s office is closed. Check hotel and train availability for the actual itinerary, and avoid scheduling a critical factory meeting immediately after an unconfirmed travel connection.

When do Chinese factories close for Chinese New Year?

There is no single closure calendar covering every factory. The public holiday is a reference point. A supplier can stop production earlier, reopen its office before its production lines, or restart different workshops on different dates.

For example, CCELL’s published 2026 factory notice gave its own closure period of 9–24 February. That is one company’s schedule, not a rule for China or a prediction for 2027.

“We are open” is not enough to plan a production visit

Ask what will actually be operating. The sales team might be answering messages while the line you want to see is idle. A showroom meeting can still be useful, but it answers different questions from observing your product being manufactured.

• What is the last production day before the break?
• When does the office reopen, and when does the relevant workshop restart?
• Will the product or process we want to see be running on our proposed date?
• Will the engineer, quality lead and commercial contact attend?
• Are samples, tooling and agreed documents ready?
• What is the fallback date if production or staffing changes?

If you have an order in progress, confirm dispatch, inspection and carrier cutoffs separately. A factory reopening date is not a guaranteed shipping date. Keep formal audits and shipment inspections distinct from a hosted factory visit.

Best time to visit factories in China: start with your purpose

The best date is the one on which the relevant people, process and evidence are available. A pleasant travel month cannot compensate for an idle production line or an absent decision-maker. Use the holiday calendar to identify questions, then confirm the appointment with each supplier.

Combine trade fairs with supplier visits

A trade fair can help build a shortlist, but an exhibitor’s booth location is not necessarily its production location. Confirm the factory address before adding a visit to your route. For Guangzhou, use our Canton Fair to factory visits guide and guide to visiting between fair phases. Check the current fair dates and product phases in the trade fair directory.

Choose a region before adding more appointments

Group confirmed addresses into a realistic route. An appointment in Shenzhen and another in Yiwu require intercity planning; they are not interchangeable “China factory” stops. The manufacturing hub finder can help identify research starting points for your product.
